DancCIS is just one of the many programs offered by Communities in Schools of Wilkes County. CIS of Wilkes began in 1983 as a Governor's One-on-One Program. Since becoming Communities In Schools in 1998, the organization has experienced tremendous growth. Annually, the agency serves approximately 1,000 of the 10,000 Wilkes school-aged children with various projects.
CIS Wilkes is a community-based program that receives a portion of funding from The United Way. Our programs and services include:
Friends of Youth one-on-one mentoring program
Lunch Buddies mentoring program
New Century Scholarships for college-bound students
Sight for Students eyeglasses and vision exams
After School Tutoring
Peer Mediators/Peer Helpers for high school students

Stuff the Bus school supplies for children in need
and of course, DanCIS dance instruction for girls 3rd grade and up!
