Frequently Asked Questions

Who Can Join DanCIS?

We accept new students no younger than 3rd grade. We accept students that are recommended to CIS through school teachers and counselors, as well as interested indivduals that have financial constraints that prevent them from private instruction. If you have a question whether your child qualifies, please contact Glendora, Yarborough,Executive Director of Communitites In Schools, at 651-7830

How can I get a student enrolled in DanCIS?

Enrollment for the 2011-2012 season is currently closed. If you wish to get on the mailing list for the fall 2012 season, simply contact Glenda Yarborough Executive Director of Communities In Schools, at 651-7830 and she will make sure you're mailed the proper applications in the spring for the fall season.

What are classes like at DanCIS?

We currently divide classes based on age, then ability. The Elementary age group and the Middle/High age group all follow the same basic class structure: Ballet is studied October through December. We have an open house in December for family & friends. In January, other styles of dance are explored, culminating with Jazz in the spring.

What does it cost to dance with DanCIS?

Class instruction and studio space is 100% free. We also provide tights, leotard, and shoes to each student when they start and before recital. However, if they become damaged during the season, we ask that a suitable substitute be purchased for class use. We also ask that any student that still can fit into previous year's dancewear continue to use them as long as possible to reduce our overall expenses.

Where is the DanCIS studio?

Our dance studio is located at the Communities In Schools of Wilkes County 's main office. It is located within the back, left-hand corner of the Wilkes County Education Administration Offices on Cherry Street in North Wilkesboro.
